Need help finding out what model or year Plymouth you have? Need to ID a part?

HOW MANY P-17 2 DOOR TORPEDO BACKS MADE?

:? I HAVE A 1949 P-17 2 DOOR TORPEDO BACK SEDAN (door tag#28501344)
MADE IN SAN LEANDRO, CA. WHERE 3,062 P-17's WERE PRODUCED THERE, AND THERE WERE 58,933 P-17's PRODUCED IN ALL OF U.S.A.
I HAVE SURFED THE WEB FOR OVER 80 HOURS AND ONLY FOUND 4 PLUS MINE=5
CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW MANY P-17 TORPEDO/TURTLE/FASTBACKS WERE MADE THAT YEAR? CAN ANYONE LET ME KNOW HOW MANY ARE LEFT? "THANK YOU," PLEASE REPLY!

Jim, as to how many are left .... we could start with "not many" but I don't think we could get much beyond that. You might check the registration lists on the "OldPlymouths" website if you haven't already to see how many are listed there. I've seen a few more than 4 or 5 but probably not more than 10 or 12 over the years ... most of these were listed on eBay or were listed on other "for sale" type websites.

Here are a few photos of some slant backs I've seen before. This one was on eBay several years back with about a $30,000 price tag if I recall correctly.

i have one also and mine is the only one in my town and i live in the 6th largest city in the us and if there is another one here that person does not drive it or it does not run mine is the only one ive ever seen in person so you are sitting on a gold mine as far as im concerned

For some reason these are starting to pop up. First the converts and now the turtle backs, business coupes too. Lets see some woodies come out of the... woodwork next! We can definitely use more of a presence of these models on this site.

very nice but i like the other pics looked better i thought the one with skirts was a peach of a car hope mine looks as good when im finished playing with it

my friend showed me a pic. of a fast back 49 that didnt have the post in the back side windows i guess the whole window rolls down unlike the p-17s i think it might have said it was a p-16 but it was in a plymouth 49 book does anyone know more about this car i think there might be even less of these made but not sure

Probably a '51 hardtop .... fairly rare but with NO post and sort of a fastback look. They are nice cars.

no its just like mine but no little window post its got full side window instead two peace and its a 49 but i think its a p-16
