I bought my first Plymouth

Post by HardLuckKid » Sun Dec 24th, 2006 4:18

I'm a 23 yeard old, and I just bought my first 49 plymouth special delux. I'm really hoping that all of you guys on this site will be able to help me in my adventure to restoring it. The car is completely original still, runs almost perfect, minus a few small quirks in the motor. Nothing major though. There are a few interior questions I have. I'll take some photos and show you what I mean, there are some pieces on the front two doors that are missing. I'm not to sure on what they are yet.

In a state where Classic Chevys rule, I'm excited to have a Plymouth.

Michael

Michael....welcome aboard. I'm sure you will find lots of folks who are more than willing to help out. I'm anxious to see a few photos. Is your car a 2 door or 4 door? What parts are you looking for?

It's a four door. The only thing I need at the moment is to rebuild my carborator. I was looking for kick panels but I just built my own. I found photos of what the original ones looked like and I just build it myself. It was cheaper and easier on me.

I'm about to put up new headliner, and reupholster the back of the front seat. Besides those minor things the interior is amazing. Just needs some shining up and finding small parts to get replaced but that's all in the future really. I want to get it all nice and shiny right now.

Wow, reminds me of my youth! I got mine when i was 22! Glad to hear yours is pretty solid. I lucked out as well, with having only minor things too. I still haven't gotten round to doing the headliner. I couldn't find any volunteers to help after the asbestos discussion! BTW, what's the verdict? Can I expect to die at age 80 now? Wait, never mind, don't tell me, I don't wanna know how I'm gonna keel over! Congrats mate, enjoy the car this spring!
