Hello all,
I am new to this board as of today. I reside in the Denver metro area and currently do not own a 49, but am in the middle of dilemma with looking to "re-purchase" the 49 convertible my father and I lovingly restored from 1976 to 1979, and sold in 1984. My dad passed away in 1999, and really would live to get this family heirloom back in the family. I recently located the car in the Miami area, and it is for sale.....but here is where the problems start. Any advice/feedback/help would be greatly appreciated.

The car is part of Mike Dezer's collection at the Miami Auto Museum. Here is a link:

Apparently when he bought this car from us in '84, this was the first car in his new museum. The museum now boasts over 100 cars. Over the last 30 years, the car has rarely been driven, and has deteriorated a bit. Here's the rub: He is asking $56k for the car! As you all know, that's easily double what the car is worth. In talking with the museum's car sale broker, it appears Mr. Denzer places great value on this car as it was the first in the museum. There is no other historical significance with this car.

First off, is anyone on the forum familiar with this car? If so, I'd be interested to hear your opinion on the car's current condition. Secondly, looking for some open advice on how to deal with the seller and their insanely high price and unrealistic value of the car. All comments are welcome.

Thank you for readying my post. Have a great Wednesday!
