MOPARS At the Red Barns

Post by dsweidman » Wed Jul 29th, 2009 7:16

My wife and I took a week end trip to Hickory Corners, MI where we participated in the "MOPARS at the Red Barns" event. It is held at the Gilmore Car Museum
The museums are several very large barns with cars from the early teens through the '60's muscle cars.

We traveled approximately 150 miles each way and drove the 'roads less travled'. We stayed off the major highways and took back roads between Toledo and Kalamazoo where we stayed at a Hampton Inn. It was a freindly place that allowed us to park our car under the huge front awning. The late night rain never touched us. It was great.

Several hundred cars participated in the event and Dennis Gage from "My Classic Car" TV show was there filming an episode for 2010.
I had an injured foot, so I couldn't get around to take many pics. but here are a few.

The drive home saturday evening was very pleasent, again taking the backroads with the top down all the way home.. The experiance of tree lined streets, small towns and open farmland is very enjoyable. You miss so much when taking the highways.

Here are a few pics. Enjoy
