Just looked at the car. Not too bad. I think the 15K is a bit high, since it needs a top, but its been awhile since I've been looking. Besides, what do I know, I paid 20K for my car, and that needs the whole top to be rebuilt! Did you try calling the # listed? Find it odd where they parked it for ph...

Finally getting the hang of this picture posting. Been visiting the Walter P Chrysler Club forum every now and then, as I was...

Here's (finally!) a pic of the Windsor. Its almost warm enough to take it out. Fingers crossed nothing mysteriously broke over the winter, my list of projects is long enough already! =)

Yeah, that's the same car! Wow, not much has changed on it other than the top and seats. Fall of '06 he would barely let the thing go for 20k without the top and new upholstery! If my old computer was up I'd have all the shop photos he took in the process. I'd be somewhat comfortable with that Plymo...

Hey Johnny! Pictures will be coming soon! My comp went down last fall, finally got a new one where I can actually plug the camera in! Re-finished the floors last summer and put in some carpeting. As per usual, I was a clutz and spilt glue on the carpet, so needless to say, I'll be re-doing that! Of ...

Wow, Jiol! I'm envious! 23 and you got the convertible! That was my hunt for years! :D I'd agree on the overdrive, although my Plymouth kept up pretty well without it. Same goes for brakes. It took a few spins to get used to the original style tires, but those worked fine too on the highway. I'm fro...

Hey gagn! Sorry for the delay! Been short on time and internet access! The 49 Chrysler is beautiful! I was really suprised by how much I enjoy the semi-automatic transmission. Easier to drive in city traffic, but still get to feel like I'm driving a manual. (Plus I don't have the embarrassing stalls...

Switched from Plymouth to Chrysler

Well hey gang! I have a new edition to the family, a 194p Chrysler Windsor Convertible! I don't know much about the model yet in detail, so I need to bury myself in some books and such. I'll add pictures and more info when the car arrives. Hopefully the Windsor and Special Deluxe models are close me...

Thanks everyone for tips and leads (esp. Johnny and Gerry)! The search is over, I'm now the proud owner of a 1949 Chrysler Convertible! (I know, I know, its not a Plymouth!) I'll post more info once it arrives! :D

I'll check my filter in the next couple of days to let you know (I just put a new one in). As I recall after I had shut the car off for a about 3 minutes to check that it was working it was about half full when i lifted up the filter. Are you using a metal canaster filter or a round paper one? Just ...

Well, the hunt is still on gang! The house fell through, woulda turned out like Tom Hanks in the Money Pit! So I'm thrilled because I can get the Convertible without a second thought (assuming I can find one!). I think Old Ride, or Old Cars weekly had an ad for one because online they had something ...

easiest way to tell a special deluxe from a deluxe is the chrome rock gaurds (or whatever they are) on the rear wheels of the car. THere's one plate on each side. Hope that helps. I think special deluxe's also have "special deluxe" signature chrome on 'em, but don't quote me on that! =)

I've never gone to one. Would it be worth taking the gf with? It'd be a 14 hour car trip. She doesn't mind hitting up the local car show, but by no means the enthusiast. I'll hafta scrounge the web for info, maybe I'll save up some dough and see the sights of Tulsa...

Wow, reminds me of my youth! I got mine when i was 22! Glad to hear yours is pretty solid. I lucked out as well, with having only minor things too. I still haven't gotten round to doing the headliner. I couldn't find any volunteers to help after the asbestos discussion! BTW, what's the verdict? Can ...
