Re: 49 Engine Color

Thanks for all the info! I just dropped in a used motor and painted it the correct silver color. I did not do the manifolds yet. I wonder if anyone knows the correct amount of water you give the 6 to have it grow into an 8? Have fun driving!

Welcome to the site. Please post a photo and make sure it is apples to apples. Steele Rubber Supply may have a conversion?
Good luck on your project!

Blown Motor!!!!!

Last Thursday I blew the motor in my 49, "Big Red" Driving on the freeway I noticed smoke behind me and bam! My friend said it look like my rear main had gone? I have had a leak there since purchase and it was getting worse. Looks like it fixed its own problem. I found a spare drivetrain last summer...

Re: Hello! Here's my 49

It was a pretty simple fix. I got the adjustment spex from this site in the tech info spot. Worked great!!! Less than 10 min. There is a linkage nut with a lock nut on it.

Was there that much slop when they were new? Pre power steering? All of my vintage rides have some slop? Thanks for the info.

Re: Seat Belts for the front seat.

Pete's info was great for height challenged folks. (His website and car are AWESOME!) If the seat does not need to go all the way back. I have a fabricator making lower brackets for the three point belts. I will post photos when finished.

Any idea of what to look for? I do not see a clip or space for it. Is there a photo in a service manual or ? Thanks
